Release v1.4

Overview

Compose Design has recently undergone some important updates, which means it’s time for another release note. In addition to the usual component and pattern maintenance, there’s been changes in most branches of our Design System – including its foundations – making this one of our most impactful updates so far.

As usual, our aim has been to improve the usability of our product, with a strong focus on accessibility this time. Here are some important changes you can expect:

  • Improvements to our color library;
  • Upgrades to several components and patterns, as well as their documentation;
  • Addition of new components;
  • Revision of the disabled state throughout the design system;
  • New additions and improvements to our Glossary.

Let us know what you think!

Accessibility Improvements

Updated color variations from Cegid's Design System.

Updated Color Library

As part of our efforts to make Cegid products more accessible, we have updated our color library, improving the contrast levels between commonly used color combinations.

New additions

Color Picker

The v1.4 update features a new addition to our Design System – the Color Picker. It allows users to choose custom colors or select them from a predefined palette. Its variations make it a flexible component that can be implemented in all sorts of forms.

Improved UX

Required Field Indicators

Tabs and Expanders have received a new variation that allows the addition of a red asterisk next to their name, indicating that they contain required fields. This helps users make sure they don’t skip anything important when going through a task or form with multiple steps.

Disabled State Review

Before the v1.4 update, there were no guidelines on the style to apply to the disabled state, leading to inconsistencies throughout our library. To improve this, we have added these guidelines to the Colors article. In addition, we went through our entire library and updated the components and patterns accordingly, ensuring they all meet the new criteria.

Glossary Updates

Menu Entries

The Glossary has received several updates. One we’re particularly excited to share is the addition of a new article on Menu Entries. Developers and designers can use it to check common product menu entries, their translation and appropriate icon.
